recovery of fairey Battle

The image at left is courtesy of the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum located in Brandon, Manitoba. It is the only museum in the world, dedicated solely to those who trained under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Click here to visit their informative site.

The image, taken in about 1942, shows the recovery of a Fairey Battle Plane via crane and with trucks in the background. One can appreciate that as an air training ground, many Planes and airmen did not recover from their training exercises.

One such training pilot was Donald Dean Dogherty who crashed his plane when the engine failed. Click here to read his story.
